Duquesne will try to put it all together for its 12:30 p.m. game today at Brown.
The Dukes looked like two completely different teams in the 28-19 loss to Bucknell in the opener two weeks ago. Their offense clicked in the first half and clanked following intermission.
In the first half, Duquesne scored all of its points as quarterback Scott Knapp went 9 of 14 for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
In the second half, he was 5 of 15 for 50 yards. The Dukes trailed 21-19 at intermission.
Duquesne's wide receivers had productive games, with All-American Bruce Hocker's four receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Rasky's three catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Duquesne's Greg Hough, a first-team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference linebacker, moved to running back because of injuries and led the Dukes with 16 carries for 83 yards.
The defensive highlights were produced by linebacker Derron Thomas, a graduate student who started nine games at Pitt two years ago.
He had 18 tackles, including a sack.
Brown, which was 3-7 last season, will have an untested quarterback with Matthew Nuzzo and Michael Dougherty vying for the job after both played sparingly last season.
The leading returning offensive threat is receiver Paul Raymond (45 catches, 654 yards, 4 TDs).
This is the first meeting between Duquesne and Brown. The Dukes are 0-3 against teams from the Ivy League, losing to Penn, 51-10, in 2003 and to Penn, 42-14, and Columbia, 23-13, in 2005.
