Peters Township, No. 1 ranked in Class AAA by the Post-Gazette, got all that it could handle from Moon until Nick Wilcox took the game over and saved the Indians from a potential upset in Class AAA Section 5 boys' soccer.

The game was knotted at 1-1 when Wilcox began his assault, scoring three goals in the final nine minutes of the contest as Peters Township (5-0, 3-0) recorded a 4-1 victory. Moon dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in section play.

Class AAA boys' soccer

Chartiers Valley (5-1, 3-0), the No. 5 team in Class AAA, got a pair of goals from Joe Puleo in its 4-1 Section 5 win against Trinity (2-5, 0-4).

Shaler (4-1, 1-1), the No. 7 team in Class AAA, got a goal from Ross Carhart 53 seconds into the game and held on for a 1-0 Section 2 win against North Allegheny (2-3, 0-2).

Class AA boys' soccer

Highlands (3-2, 2-2) upset Knoch, the No. 3 team in Class AA, 4-1, in Section 2. Mike Gezo scored twice for Highlands. The loss dropped Knoch to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in section play.

New Brighton recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 7-0 Section 4 win against Mohawk (0-4, 0-4). Matt Krut scored four goals to lead New Brighton (2-2, 2-2).

Class A boys' soccer

Shady Side Academy, the No. 2 team in Class A, coasted to an 8-1 Section 2 win against West Shamokin (2-2, 2-1). Edwin Niederberger scored three goals and added an assist for Shady Side Academy (6-0, 4-0).

Tim Wood scored three goals to lead Greensburg Central Catholic, the No. 5 team in Class A, to a 5-1 Section 1 win over Winchester Thurston (0-3-2, 0-2-0). Greensburg Central Catholic raised its record to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in section play.

Jon Kennedy scored all three goals for Bentworth (6-0, 4-0) in its 3-0 shutout of Chartiers-Houston (0-6, 0-3) in Section 4 play.

Girls' Division I golf

Toni Crough shot a 40 to lead Mt. Lebanon to a 176-191 non-section win against Blackhawk at Blackhawk Golf Course.

Fox Chapel defeated Kittanning 194-220 in their Division I Section 2 match at the Pittsburgh Field Club. Nadia Lattner took medalist honors with a 40 for Fox Chapel.

Boys Division I golf

Upper St. Clair edged Mt. Lebanon, 192-197, in a Section 7 match at Mt. Lebanon. Zack Dubois shot a 36 for Upper St. Clair. Shane Killeen of Mt. Lebanon was the medalist with a round of 35.

Jim Davis carded a 1-over par 36 at Diamond Run to lead North Allegheny to a 189-210 win against North Hills in Section 3 play.

Jason Potuzko shot a 1-under par 34 to pace Hempfield to its 187-209 Section 1 win against Greensburg Salem at Valley Green Golf Course.

Grant Burkhardt, Corey Martinez, and Chris Resnik all shot 1-under par rounds of 34 at Dogwood Hills for Peters Township in its 174-205 Section 7 victory over McGuffey.
