CMU in tech venture with Harrisburg University
Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Carnegie Mellon University is collaborating on the Center for Advanced Entertainment and Learning Technologies to be based at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.

In addition to Carnegie Mellon and Harrisburg University, the project involves the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania. It will include what Harrisburg University officials are calling the second synthetic interviews studio in the world.

The Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon, created in 1998 as a joint venture between its School of Computer Science and College of Fine Arts, pioneered a patented technology, called synthetic interviews. It enables computer users to use speech recognition to interview historical and fictional characters.
