Michael Walser's 36-yard field goal with 47 seconds left lifted Robert Morris to a 20-17 victory against host Monmouth in a Northeast Conference game yesterday at West Long Branch, N.J.

Robert Morris (1-1, 1-1) rallied from a 14-0 deficit in the first quarter behind the passing of Erik Cwalinski. He completed 8 of 15 passes for 154 yards and threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Julian Ellison. Mario Hines had two catches for 58 yards and Ellison two for 51 yards. Russ Mykles rushed for 86 yards.

Robert Morris was without coach Joe Walton whose wife, Ginger, passed away Wednesday.

California 31, Bloomsburg 13: Brandon Lombardy rushed 30 times for 133 yards and two scores as No. 19 California (3-0) defeated visiting No. 12 Bloomsburg (1-1).

Edinboro 58, Saint Anselm 3: Trevor Harris threw for 265 yards and five touchdowns and the visiting Fighting Scots (1-1) had 613 yards.

Waynesburg 38, Wooster 35: Robert Heller, a freshman running back from Ringgold, set school records with 277 yards rushing and 46 carries and tied a record with five touchdowns for the visiting Yellow Jackets (2-0).
