Police-citizen alert network expanding on Internet
Wednesday, September 05, 2007

Anyone with access to the Internet can be informed as well as become informers with the expansion of Pittsburgh's CitizenObserver Alert Network announced yesterday by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

The mayor visited the Zone 3 police station on the South Side yesterday to try his hand at the Web site, at www.citizenobserver.com.

The program was launched in February at the Zone 1 station on the North Side. It took a $55,000 investment by the city to get the system up and running for the next two years, said Regina McDonald, an assistant police chief.
