Santino Coury scored three touchdowns to lead Chartiers Valley to an impressive 34-0 shutout of Moon in a Class AAA opener.
The victory was Chartiers Valley???s first against Moon since 1992, and ended a seven-game losing streak to the Tigers. Coury opened the game with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Later in the first quarter, he scored on a 49-yard run. Coury gave the Colts a 20-0 lead with an 18-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Chartiers Valley also scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 19-yard run by Dylan Lindsay and a 10-yard run by Chris Barrett.

Thomas Jefferson 40, Belle Vernon 21
Tyler Wehner completed 9 of 15 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns in his debut for the Jaguars. Wehner connected with Trevor Wildman on scoring passes of 61 and 5 yards and with Zack DiCicco on passes of 23 and 20 yards.
Thomas Jefferson also scored on a 1-yard run by Brian Baldrige and a 5-yard run by Evan Zampatti, Belle Vernon???s Shane Curran scored on runs of 83 and 62 yards and on an 89-yard kickoff return.
Ambridge 36, Aliquippa 26
David Duke threw for three touchdowns to lead Ambridge to a road victory against Aliquippa, thus ending the Quips 12-game win streak over the Bridgers.
Dukes completed 8 of 15 passes for 189 yards and connected with Travis Anderson, Bob Gaiton, and Devin Polzot on touchdown passes of 3, 65 and 46 yards. Anderson also scored on runs of 50 and 10 yards.
Aliqiuppa, ranked No. 2 in Class AA, was led by Daron Cox, who scored on runs of 17, 9 and 2 yards.
The Quips also scored on a 2-yard run by Dontae Williams and a safety.
Aliquippa holds a 46-34-5 lead in the series, which dates to 1920.
Blackhawk 14, Hampton 13
A missed extra point on Hampton???s second touchdown was the difference in this opener. Blackhawk???s Matt Greiner connected on both extra points, while Hampton???s Garrett Flory missed one.
Blackhawk scored on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Brooks Roorback to Zach Hayward and a 5-yard pass from Hayward to Matt Engle.
Hampton scored on a 70-yard punt return by Dan O???Mara and a 7-yard run by Zach Smith.
Peters Township 34, Laurel Highlands 3
Tyler Porco completed 13 of 21 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns for Peters Township.
He connected with Mike DiVella, Ben Boehme and Jack Hareza on touchdown passes of 40, 14 and 10 yards.
Joe Smith opened the game with a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Peters Township.
Nick Fazio also scored for the Indians on an 11-yard run.
Laurel Highlands scored its only points on a 33-yard field goal by Joel Borland.
Mount Pleasant 35, Elizabeth Forward 3
Mike Sawlsville threw touchdown passes of 30 and 43 yards to Jeff
Welc, as the Vikings posted a road victory in their opener.
Sawlsville also scored on a 5-yard run.
Mount Pleasant also scored on a 1-yard run by Jake Hoffer and a 98-yard interception return by Ben Katz.
Hoffer rushed for 106 yards on 21 carries for the Vikings Elizabeth Foward scored its only points on a 39-yard field goal by Gabe Cooper.

Jared Rains rushed for 147 yards on 13 carries and scored on runs of 5, 45 and 7 yards to lead the Vikings to a convincing victory.
Mark Javens scored twice for Hopewell on runs of 33 and 15 yards.
David Posluszny also scored for the Vikings on a 26-yard run.
Carrick???s Mike Szoszorck completed 11 of 22 passes for 195 yards and connected with James Jett on touchdown passes of 22 and 39 yards.
Jett caught 8 passes for 142 yards.
West Mifflin 35, Allderdice 6
Mike Neckerman completed 8 of 14 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns, as the Titans rolled to an easy victory.
Neckerman threw touchdown passes of 51 and 30 yards to Rashad
Washington and 27 yards to T.J. Williams.
Neckerman also scored on a 10-yard touchdown run.
Washington, a former Duquesne player, caught three passes for 103 yards.
Allderdice scored its only points on a 3-yard run by Joe Short, who rushed for 156 yards on 23 carries.
Highlands 18, Fox Chapel 7
Robert Rutkowski opened the scoring for Highlands with a 33-yard fumble return.
The Golden Rams also scored on a 24-yard field goal by Nick Bouchat and a 13-yard pass from Jeff Sinclair to Nick Adams.
Fox Chapel???s Joe Donohoe completed 13 of 22 passes for 180 yards and connected with Jaycee Duquette on a 32-yard touchdown pass.
