Mt. Lebanon -- South Hills Art League will accept registrations for its 2007 new member screening from Tuesday through Sept. 17. Green Tree -- PA Connecting Communities, a nonprofit for individuals with disabilities, will host a free breast cancer awareness training program, The First Step Workshop, at noon and 6 p.m. next Thursday at the Green Tree Holiday Inn. Komen for the Cure Foundation, is open to women of all abilities and teaches the importance of performing self-breast exams, annual doctor visits and mammograms. Mt. Lebanon -- St. Clair Hospital Nutritional Services Department will offer a seven-week weight reduction program, A Weigh of Life, starting Sept. 6. Sessions are available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Fridays, and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Lebanon -- St. Clair Hospital, in partnership with Highmark's Healthy High Five Initiative, will hold a nine-week KidShape program from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 12, in the second floor Conference Center, 1000 Bower Hill Road. The program is designed to give overweight children, age 6-14, and their families tools for eating healthfully, exercising daily and building self-esteem, and helping them to recognize obstacles that lead to overeating.
