Cal U instituting emergency text messaging service
Friday, August 24, 2007

California University of Pennsylvania said yesterday that it will adopt an emergency notification system for its students and employees.

Those who sign up for the service, powered by e2Campus, will be able to receive text messages on their cell phones.

Depending on the person's personal cell phone plan, there may be a small charge from the carrier, but there is no charge from Cal U to use the service, the school said.

An announcement yesterday did not include a planned start date but indicated that additional information would soon be posted on the school's Web site, www.cup.edu.
