Q: With the Eagles releasing Jeremiah Trotter, would he be someone that the Steeler's front office would pursue? He is a Pro Bowl middle linebacker, and I know we have James Farrior at that position already and he is great. I'm just curious if he would be able to play outside LB at all. Just food for thought.

Joel Nickerson, West Fargo, ND

BOUCHETTE: And why do you think the Eagles cut Trotter? Because he's still playing at a Pro Bowl level? You don't get better by signing other people's rejects, for the most part. The Eagles determined that Trotter had lost a step. The Steelers determined the same thing with linebacker Joey Porter and released him. That the Miami Dolphins signed him to a $12 million bonus was seen as a coup for them. We'll see. Remember, teams are signing players, not names. Sometimes those players no longer can play up to their reputations.
