Clearfield crash kills man, severely injures teen

A Clearfield County man died and a teenager was severely injured in a weekend crash.

State police said a Jaguar driven by Richard L. Schultz, 35, of the village of La Jose, crossed the center line of Route 36 on a curve in Chest Township, Clearfield County, at 7:45 a.m. Saturday.

It crashed into a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Du Bois, Clearfield County, whose identity was not provided.

Mr. Schultz, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

The teen, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, had to be cut from his vehicle and was flown to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown.
