Blue Chip Chat: Mike Yancich
Catching up with the area's top high school football players
Thursday, August 16, 2007

School: Trinity

Position: LB

Height: 6-2

Weight: 220

The skinny: Along with teammate Andrew Sweat, Yancich makes up one of the premier linebacking tandems in the country. A physical presence, Yancich is quick and has shown an ability to work the field sideline to sideline.

College talk: Selected Penn State in late-June after seriously considering Pitt, West Virginia, Connecticut and Michigan State.

Favorite food? That is tough, I pretty much eat anything. If I had to say one thing, it would be crab legs.

Joe Paterno is ... a man among boys.

Person you would most like to meet and why? Brian Urlacher for a couple of reasons. He's a great linebacker, but then you also see him on those United Way commercials and everything and he is a great guy off the field.

What will the Steelers do this year? I'd like to see them win, I'd always like to see them win. But my prediction is .500 or a little above.

Text messaging: Love it or hate it and why? I liked it at first, but when I first started getting text messages from college coaches and my parents showed me the phone bill, it wasn't too nice of a sight. I got yelled at and they didn't understand why the bill was that high. It wasn't any fun. So, I don't like text messaging all that much.

People might be surprised to know ... I read Harry Potter.
