Moyer wins outdoor writing award

The Outdoor Writers Association of America has presented Ben Moyer an Excellence in Craft award for an article that was published last year in the Post-Gazette.

The story, "Young companion proves kids are drawn outdoors," placed second in the newspaper category of the Family Participation/Youth Outdoor Education contest.

The Outdoor Writers Association includes some 1,200 international members and is headquartered in Missoula, Mont. Moyer, a freelance writer from Farmington, Pa., covers the outdoors for the Post-Gazette and has written for Pennsylvania Game News, Pennsylvania Outdoor Times, Deer & Deer Times and other publications.
