Mayor among 28 featured in magazine style section
Friday, August 10, 2007

Nattily attired in a dark suit, white shirt and striped tie, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is one of 28 mayors featured in a special style section of Esquire magazine that will hit newsstands Tuesday.

The mayors, photographed during the U.S. Conference of Mayors in June, sported a variety of styles from dapper and chic -- a few women mayors are included -- to business casual.

While the magazine includes information on the attire of some of the officials -- St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay wears a $4,900 three-button wool suit by Domenica Vacco -- there's none about what Pittsburgh's mayor is wearing. There is, however, a tiny blurb listing his age, term and the city's population.

Asked what the best mayoral perk is, Mr. Ravenstahl responded: "I don't have the political relationships yet, so I think that's an advantage. But because things move so quickly, I haven't had the chance to sit down and digest it. To this day, quite honestly, it hasn't hit me -- the opportunity I have."
