The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

'Becoming Jane'

Rated: PG.

Suitable for: Tweens and older.

What you should know: The few known facts surrounding Jane Austen's real-life flirtation with an Irish lawyer have been spun into a classy, entertaining romantic comedy starring Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy and Maggie Smith.

Language: One use of the word "damn."

Sexual situations and nudity: You see the bare behinds of two men who skinny dip. Couples kiss, and a husband briefly gets frisky with his wife of 30-plus years under the bed covers.

Violence/scary situations: A bare-fisted fight leaves one man's nose and lip bloodied, and an unexpected death from illness is announced via a letter.

Drug or alcohol use: Adults drink wine.

'Rush Hour 3'

Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: Teens and older.

What you should know: Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan reunite in this third installment of the action-comedy series. This time, they head for Paris and battle notorious Chinese criminals.

Language: Steady stream of four-letter curses, within the boundary of the PG-13 rating.

Sexual situations and nudity: Lots of lascivious looks and glances. A man and woman are shown in bed, and women are in their underwear, revealing showgirl costumes or naked from the waist up (but photographed from behind).

Violence/scary situations: Lots of both, with bullets, knives, swords and punches exchanged. Add in an explosion, car-motorcycle chases and a kidnapping that leaves a woman dangling from the Eiffel Tower.

Drug or alcohol use: Champagne and other alcoholic drinks are consumed.

'Stardust'

Rated: PG-13.

Suitable for: Tweens and above.

What you should know: This is a fantasy chock-full of characters, from a falling star who is actually a young woman to a heartsick young man, a witch who longs for eternal youth and beauty and a pirate with a penchant for playing dress-up.

Language: Fairly gentle, although a four-letter word pops up now and then.

Sexual situations and nudity: Couples kiss and share a bed, and an off-screen encounter produces a child nine months later.

Violence/scary situations: More than you might expect, starting with crones who kill animals and search their entrails for clues. A king lies dying, and his sons kill each other to get to the throne. In addition, there are scary witches, poisoned drinks, near-stabbings and spells that turn animals into people or people into birds.

Drug or alcohol use: Adults consume champagne, wine and other alcohol.
