In an unusual move, the U.S. attorney's office yesterday released a photograph of a man charged with possession of child pornography to reduce confusion with a local man with the same name.

John P. Duffy, 46, of Carnegie, was charged last week with one count of possession of computer images and video files that show children engaging in sexual conduct.

A state trooper investigating peer-to-peer file sharing of child pornography discovered one computer sharing more than 100 files and it was tracked to John P. Duffy, a local sports announcer and weekend news anchor for ESPN Radio 1250.

On Wednesday, John M. Duffy, 42, of Upper St. Clair, posted a notice on his Web site to clear up confusion he was encountering. He is a physical therapist who runs the NovaCare South Hills Sports Medicine Clinic in Scott

John M. Duffy noted that his family members are upset, and that he's heard from patients wondering if he was the man arrested.

"Nobody needs that," he said. "I've worked hard to get my business where it's at. I don't need anything like this to ruin it."
