Penguins forward Jordan Staal was among 14 men arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of the legal process around 4 a.m. Saturday in Cook County, Minn. Staal, 18, also was cited for underage drinking.

Staal was among those at a bachelor party for his brother, Eric, who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes.

"We were recently made aware of the situation involving Jordan, have reached out to him and are continuing to gather information," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said in a statement. "At this point, we all have to let the legal process play out. We will have no further comment at this time."

Eric Staal also was arrested. All of those arrested face a court appearance Aug. 8 in Cook County

"It's nothing," Rick Curran, agent for both players, said today. "It's ridiculously nothing. Eric and Jordan and [their brother] Marc had gone to bed."

Curran said he expects the charges to be reduced or dropped.

According to a press release, the Cook County Sheriff's Office began receiving noise complaints around 12:30 a.m. from the party at the Lutsen Resort and Sea Villas. Deputies issued multiple warnings to be quiet, but around 3 a.m. the group of about 20 was escorted off the hotel property by sheriff's deputies, a Minnesota state patrol trooper and a United States border patrol agent.

While walking along Highway 61, the group began harrassing passing motorists, the press release said, and 14 members of the group were arrested.

Jordan Staal was among four released after booking. The others, including Eric Staal, were held overnight and released Sunday.

That area of Grand Marais, Minn., is about two hours from the Staals' home in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Jordan Staal, who turns 19 in September, had a standout rookie season for the Penguins. He had 29 goals, 42 points, led the NHL with seven shorthanded goals and a 22.1 shooting percent, finished third behind teammate Evgeni Malkin in voting for the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year and made the league's all-rookie team.
