Canon-McMillan senior Jeravin Matthews committed to Northwestern. At 5 feet 11, 170 pounds, Matthews was recruited as a receiver/defensive back.

Thomas Jefferson senior lineman Lucas Nix was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Jan. 5 in San Antonio. Nix is the fourth WPIAL played picked for the game, joining Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor, Aliquippa receiver/defensive end Jonathan Baldwin and Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale.
