'Ratatouille'

Based on the popular Pixar movie, it would be easy to pass this off as another weaker movie-to-game port. In many ways that would be a disservice, because though we all like to think that kid-oriented games have to be accessible to adults, that's not always the case.
"Ratatouille" (most platforms; THQ ESRB; E, for Everyone) generally follows the movie's plot, which is about a rat named Remy who works to become a top chef in Paris. The game is a basic platformer, having you control Remy and search areas for leftover food and other items to help you create the next culinary masterpiece.
There are some classic platforming devices such as sliding sequences and a whole slew of item-collection missions. While they are unoriginal, the execution is decent and entertaining.
The mini-games and ease of play will sustain younger gamers, but what will annoy anyone of any age is the often-sloppy visual design. It is a shame that this "Ratatouille" comes off more like fast food than the higher-minded fare the film presents.
