Community College of Allegheny County yesterday named as interim president Michael T. Murphy of University Park, Fla.

Since retiring in 2004 as president/CEO of the College of DuPage, a community college in suburban Chicago, Dr. Murphy has been interim president for Yavapai College in Prescott, Ariz., and Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill.

He holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.

Stewart Sutin, the current CCAC president, is stepping down at the end of this month. Dr. Murphy is expected to serve until a permanent chief executive is named, and he will receive pay and benefits totalling $21,304 a month, CCAC said.
