In conjunction with the Library's summer reading theme "Get a Clue @ Your Library!" most CLP locations will host Potter Mania parties with trivia challenges and costume contests. CLP's free, public events include:
CLP-Beechview, July 19: Prediction Contest. The person or people who are the closest to guessing the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will win a prize.
CLP-Main, 6-9 p.m. July 20: Anticipation Party: On the eve of the final book's release, the Main Library in Oakland will turn into a Harry Potter festival with activities, food and entertainment, including games, music and crafts. Costumes welcome. Prizes courtesy of Borders.
Schenley Plaza in Oakland, 6 p.m. July 31: To honor Harry Potter's birthday on July 31, the Remus Lupins will play an outdoor concert under the tent. With the slogan, "Fight Evil, Read Books," the wizard rock band is dedicated to the promotion of literacy among people of all ages.
Schenley Plaza, 5 p.m. Aug. 19: CLP welcomes the return of Harry and the Potters (brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge).

Harry Potter Extravaganza, 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 20/Saturday, July 21, is sponsored by the library but will be held at the Findlay Township Activity Center, 310 Main St, Imperial. Costumes welcome. The party will start with a viewing of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Other activities include games, crafts, trivia and refreshments. At midnight, those present who have pre-ordered a book will receive "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." One copy of the book will be raffled off. Registration is requested at 724-695-8150.

The store will be open throughout the evening until the midnight sale. The nearby Oaks Theater will have a special showing of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at 9 p.m., $7 for adults, $5 for children, seniors and students. The Oaks is at 310 Allegheny River Blvd., two blocks from the store. At the conclusion of the film, at 11:30, the store will have treats including the wizard world treat "butterbeer," along with some Harry Potter leather bookmarks while supplies last. At 12:01, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" goes on sale for $29.99.

Friday, July 20 at 10 p.m.: "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows" Release Party. Joseph-Beth Booksellers, SouthSide Works, will be decked-out for the event and encourages attendees to dress up as their favorite Harry Potter character. There will be a trivia contest, crafts, face-painting, Quidditch and Potions stations, photos with characters and more. Balloons will fall at the stroke of midnight when "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is released.
