Carlow getting high-tech emergency alert system
Thursday, June 28, 2007

Carlow University is instituting a Web-based mass notification system that will enable it to contact students, faculty and staff via cell phones, e-mail accounts, pagers and personal Web pages.

The university has contracted with e2Campus for a system it says will be useful for providing quick updates about weather delays, cancellations and other emergencies.

A number of colleges and universities nationwide have been exploring text messaging and other electronic safety upgrades in the wake of the Virginia Tech killings this past spring.

Carlow says its new system will be activated in August.
