Hopewell offensive lineman Ryan Turnley committed to Pitt over the weekend.
Turnley, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound senior, also had scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland and Akron.
Turnley is Hopewell's third Division I recruit from the Class of 2008, joining safety/linebacker David Posluszny, who is headed to Notre Dame, and Jared Rains, a running back who has committed to Cincinnati.
Pitt also received a verbal commitment from Madison, Ohio, tight end Nic DiLillo. DiLillo (6-5, 230) had committed to Clemson.
Verbal commitments are non-binding, and recruits can't sign a letter of intent until February.
Trinity linebacker Mike Yancich has a news conference scheduled for today to announce his college decision. Yancich (6-2, 220) is considered to be one of the top senior linebackers in the state.
Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Connecticut and Michigan State are his five finalists.
The first ESPNU High School All-American Game is slated for Jan. 5, 2008 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida. Organizers yesterday unveiled a list of more than 40 players who have accepted invitations to play. Local players who are scheduled to play are Aliquippa receiver/tight end/defensive end Jonathan Baldwin, Jeannette linebacker Michael Matt, Trinity linebacker and Ohio State recruit Andrew Sweat and Montour linebacker Christian Wilson.
The rosters are not complete, and more players will be added to the game as it draws nearer.
