Steelers give Hoke new four-year deal
Backup nose tackle's contract is $6 million

The Steelers signed backup nose tackle Chris Hoke to a new four-year contract worth $6 million.

Hoke, who had one year left on his contract before signing the new deal, also will receive a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Hoke signed with Steelers in 2001 as an undrafted free agent out of Brigham Young University. He has played in 45 games, including 11 starts. In 2004, when he started 10 games for the injured Casey Hampton, Hoke finished that season with 27 tackles and two sacks.

Titans

Suspended Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pac-Man" Jones will surrender to authorities in Nevada and fight felony charges in a strip club melee during the NBA All-Star Game weekend that preceded a triple shooting.

Lawyers for Jones disclosed their client's plans. Attorneys Manny Arora and Robert Langford, however, said they had no information about a deadline of noon today set by police.

Arora said he was working with the Clark County District Attorney's office in Las Vegas on arrangements for Jones to surrender today or Monday.

Panthers

Rookie receiver Dwayne Jarrett escaped serious injury after being involved in a car accident near Charlotte, N.C. Jarrett, from Southern California, was Carolina's second-round pick.

Falcons

Atlanta will be without receiver Brian Finneran for a second year in a row. Last week, Finneran had his second reconstructive surgery on his left knee in two years and will miss the 2007 season.

Colts

Indianapolis claimed defensive back Antonio Perkins off waivers from the Cleveland Browns.

Elsewhere

Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington of North Hills High School and Penn State will remain in the hospital at least a few more days as he recovers from arm and leg injuries from a motorcycle accident earlier this week. Arrington's right forearm was broken and he had severe lacerations in his leg after crashing on a highway ramp in Maryland.
