A Washington County man already under arrest on charges of sending pornographic images to a state agent he thought was a 13-year-old girl has been charged again, this time with sending porn images to a state trooper posing as a 15-year-old girl.
The attorney general's Child Predator Unit, which has been conducting online stings for several years, said David M. Robbins, 43, of Monongahela, sent explicit webcam videos to the trooper and suggested they meet for sex.
He is charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a minor and two counts of criminal use of a computer.
In the earlier case, Mr. Robbins was charged June 1 with six counts of unlawful contact with a minor and six counts of criminal use of a computer after he engaged in an Internet chat with a Child Predator Unit agent, according to the attorney general's office.
Mr. Robbins indicated he had a webcam that he used to show "lots of things" to people he met online and transmitted six videos to the agent.
In the newer case, Mr. Robbins is accused of asking a trooper he thought was a 15-year-old if she had ever watched pornography.
According to the criminal charges, Mr. Robbins then sent the trooper two sexually explicit videos and suggested that they set up a meeting.
Like many other men caught in such stings, he also cautioned the "girl" to keep the relationship secret, saying at one point, "we'll just have to be careful ... don't feel like going to jail."
He was arraigned Monday and being held in the Washington County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing on all the charges is set for June 25 before a Charleroi district judge.
In a similar case, the attorney general announced yesterday that a New Jersey police officer is accused of sexually propositioning an agent he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Edward Berzins, 37, an officer with the police department in Gloucester Township, N.J., also is accused of sending nude images to the agent.
The Child Predator Unit has arrested 77 suspected online predators from Pennsylvania and surrounding states since its creation in January 2005.
