David Beckham is sticking to his plan: He's bound for the Los Angeles Galaxy next month -- regardless of what anyone says.
"There is no intention of getting out of the Galaxy deal or reneging on the Galaxy deal," agent Simon Oliveira told The Associated Press.
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon was quoted in the Spanish media as saying that he would try to persuade the England star to stay and would use an escape clause in Beckham's Galaxy contract to withdraw from the deal.

Carlos Costly scored two second-half goals -- including the winner in injury time -- to lift Honduras over four-time Gold Cup champion Mexico, 2-1, in East Rutherford, N.J., and revive its hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF championship. Both of Costly's goals came after Mexico was reduced to 10 men in the 49th minute when Cuauhtemoc Blanco was expelled for elbowing defender Samuel Caballero in front of the Honduran goal as two jostled for position awaiting a Mexican corner kick.

Katie Smith scored 23 points and Cheryl Ford added 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the visiting Detroit Shock beat the Connecticut Sun (4-3), 79-74, to remain the WNBA's only unbeaten team. Detroit (6-0) also got 11 points from Swin Cash. ... Tammy Sutton-Brown tied career highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Indiana Fever to an 80-61 victory at home against the New York Liberty.
Denver Nuggets reserve forward DerMarr Johnson was charged with resisting arrest and interfering with police during a disturbance outside a nightclub in Greenwood Village, Colo. Police said they used a taser to calm the 6-foot-9 player. Johnson and two women were arrested, booked and released early Saturday. The women were charged with disturbing the peace. Dan Recht, Johnson's lawyer, said his client was breaking up a fight between the two women.
The Washington Wizards are committed to keeping Gilbert Arenas on the team, even after the All-Star guard said he planned to opt out of his contract. Arenas told The Washington Post and The Washington Times that he will get out of the six-year, $65 million contract he signed in 2003 and become a free agent.

The folks at Madison Square Garden like to call their building the mecca of boxing. For one night, the show lived up to that hyperbole. WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto's 11th-round knockout of Zab Judah had a sellout crowd engrossed from beginning to end. Puerto Rican flags waved from every level as Cotto's supporters made Brooklyn's Judah into an outsider. With the size of the crowd he drew and the performance he and Judah put on, it's certain Cotto will be back -- perhaps for his next defense. Judah would like Cotto's next defense to be against him.
Track and field
Rochester's Lauryn Williams placed fourth in the 100-meter dash at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Ore., yesterday. Torri Edwards won the event in 11.1 seconds, while Williams' time was 11.3.
Frontier League
The Chillcothe Paints handed the Washington Wild Things a 17-4 loss last night at Concol Energy Park in Washington, Pa. The Wild Things managed just five hits with Jarod Rine going 1 for 4 with two RBIs.
Cycling
The sport's governing body has called a special meeting of all 20 ProTour teams before the Tour de France to discuss the sport's growing image problem. The UCI has convened the meeting in Geneva June 19 without outlining a specific agenda, German teams Gerolsteiner and T-Mobile said.
