Burns & Scalo Roofing landed the sheet metal roofing contract award for the Fred Rogers Center (Saint Vincent College), Latrobe, by general contractor, Massaro.

LarsonO'Brien Advertising and Public Relations was selected by Birdair Inc. as agency of record for its public relations and advertising applications.

TenUnited introduced its advertising campaign for The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh. The agency was retained by the institute in January to develop a new advertising campaign and be its advertising agency of record.

Grants/loans

Summerbridge Pittsburgh received $40,000 from DSF Charitable Foundation; $7,500 from American Eagle Outfitters Foundation; $4,000 from Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The chemistry and chemical engineering departments at Carnegie Mellon University have received $725,000 from the Bayer Foundation to continue the successful Bayer Graduate Fellows Program. The graduate fellowships will support two Ph.D. students conducting interdisciplinary research in chemical engineering and chemistry, particularly in the areas of polymer characterization and complex fluids, and one Ph.D. student doing research in solid-state materials.

Asset Inc. has received a $5,000 grant from Lanxess Corp. as part of its corporate funding program.

FamilyLinks was awarded a $300,000 grant by Eden Hall Foundation to help buy a computerized integrated clinical management system.

Awards/Honors

Eichenlaub Inc. Landscape Contractors received two awards for Landscape Excellence at the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Conference. Eichenlaub won the 2007 Gold Award for Landscape Excellence in Design for a residential hardscape installation in Sewickley and the 2007 Gold Award for Landscape Excellence in Maintenance for a residential maintenance project in Oakland.

The 2006 Design and Fabrication award for nontraditional use of solid surface materials was awarded to Solid Surface Fabricators with Robert Hoehl as owner and designer. This international competition recognizes innovative design and fabrication techniques which creatively exploit the design potential unique to solid surface materials.

Canonsburg General Hospital was awarded a three-year accreditation in the nuclear medicine, cardiac stress testing, and echo cardiology departments. This accreditation is a result of a recent survey by Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Laboratories and the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiology Laboratories.
