Allegheny County Council won't appeal adverse ruling on smoking
Wednesday, June 06, 2007

Allegheny County Council will not appeal a court ruling that voided a countywide ban on smoking in bars, restaurants and other workplaces.

In a closed meeting before the regular meeting of council last night, members, after consulting with their attorney, decided not to appeal the Commonwealth Court ruling to the state Supreme Court.

Instead, council passed a resolution support efforts in the state Legislature to ban smoking in public buildings statewide.
