Failed Crafton Heights attack followed by threat, girl says
A teenage girl who said Tuesday that a man tried to abduct her reported yesterday that the same man made a threatening gesture toward her.
The 13-year-old girl, a student at Schaeffer School in Crafton Heights, said she was in the schoolyard at 7:50 a.m. when she saw the man across an alley.
The two made eye contact and the man made the hand gesture across his throat, police said.
The girl reported the incident to school officials, who notified police.
The girl's family was to meet with police to provide further descriptions of the suspect.
The girl reported Tuesday that she was walking on Dubois Street to Schaeffer School's intermediate campus when she noticed the man walking behind her.
She ignored his request for her name before he grabbed her in a headlock and shoved his hand down the front of her jeans, police said.
The girl broke free and ran to a nearby residence for help.
The suspect was described by the police as a white male of medium build, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with curly brown hair and clean-shaven, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, tan boots and a white do-rag on his head.
Anyone with information regarding the incident can call the Pittsburgh police sex assault squad at 412-323-7141.
