South Park graduate Chad Radgowski, a sophomore at Louisiana State University, qualified for the NCAA Division I track and field championships by placing fourth in the javelin at the Mideast Regional last weekend in Columbia, Mo.
Radgowski's best throw was 228-4, less than 8 feet behind the top finisher.
The NCAA championships will run June 6-9 in Sacramento, Calif.
CV grads make all-conference
Chartiers Valley graduate John Astfalk and Thomas Jefferson grad Ron Mitko were named all-Presidents' Athletic Conference in baseball. Both are seniors at Washington & Jefferson College.
Astfalk, a starting pitcher, was voted to the first team after being a second-team choice last year. He had a 7-1 record and a 2.03 ERA.
Mitko, a first baseman/outfielder/pitcher, was voted to the second team for the second straight year. Mitko had a .331 average with seven doubles and 19 RBIs. He also was 3-0 with four saves and a 0.71 ERA.
Postseason honors
South Park graduate Stacey Bugle and Thomas Jefferson graduate Abby Greiner were named all-Presidents' Athletic Conference in softball.
Bugle, a senior infielder at Washington & Jefferson College, was a first-team selection. She had a .370 average with nine doubles, four triples, and 26 runs scored.
Greiner, a junior catcher at Grove City College, was a second-team selection. She had a .324 average with two home runs and 30 RBIs.
Baldwin's Dignon cited
For the second year in a row, Baldwin graduate Jessica Dignon was voted third-team all-Big East Conference in softball.
Dignon, a junior at the University of Pittsburgh, led the Panthers in four offensive categories: average (.311), hits (52), runs (33) and doubles (13).
Record-breaker
Kiski School graduate Matt Ogrodnik broke a Penn State University baseball record with his 29th relief appearance, which broke his own team record established last season.
For the season, Ogrodnik had a 4-3 record, three saves, and a 2.30 ERA.
