Women eBook lovers, there's a new online bookstore catering to your needs and interests.

"Shattered Silk" by Barbara Michaels is among the eBooks available on the Web site eBooks About Women.

Opening just last week, www.eBooksAboutWomen.com carries everything from "weighty academic tomes on the history of suffrage and the issues of women's equality" to an extensive collection of books featuring today's most popular women sleuths.

"From women authors to women's studies, this store celebrates women," says Gigi Reynard, CEO of eBooksAbout, based in Palm Springs, Calif. "There are biographies, information about women's health and eBooks by women authors."

The store offers more than 3,000 titles in the Adobe Reader PDF, Palm Reader and Microsoft Reader eBook formats, and within the next month or so, it will also offer titles in the Mobipocket Reader format.

An eBook costs about 25 percent to 40 percent less than a print version of the same title, she says.

"The great thing about having an eBook is you can carry it with you anywhere," she says. "For people, especially women who are on the run, taking kids here and there, to have something you can read on your handheld device that you take with you anyway is a great thing.

"Mollie's Job: A Story of Life and Work on the Global Assembly Line" is also available from eBooks About Women.

"They can be accessed anytime, anywhere with the click of a mouse or the poke of a stylus."

The top-selling eBook genres are science fiction, romance and erotica.

"Harlequin is making millions of dollars on eBooks, and we carry some Harlequin titles," she says.

Ms. Reynard also enjoys a romance novel herself every now and again.

"For many women, it's kind of a guilty pleasure," she says with a chuckle. "If you're like me, every once in a while I want to have a romance [novel] because I can't stand my life.

"I don't want to carry around a romance novel and have to rip off the cover because I'm embarrassed."
