Family Film Guide: 'Shrek the Third'
Friday, May 18, 2007

The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

'Shrek the Third'

Rated: PG.

Suitable for: Preschoolers and up.

What you should know: The rating is for some crude humor, suggestive content and swashbuckling action, but there's nothing that should frighten or disturb the little ones. The crude humor includes Shrek having someone scratch his butt and bouts of burping, flatulence and vomit.

Language: None.

Sexual situations and nudity: Fiona is pregnant when the movie starts but that's about it.

Violence/scary situations: King Harold, Fiona's father who has reverted to being a frog, dies early in the picture but it's handled with as much humor and sensitivity as possible. Action is mainly comic and when things go wrong, as when a ship crashes into the rocks or characters are imprisoned, it's not particularly scary.

Drug or alcohol use: None.
