Pittsburgh's Forestry Department is staging an event Saturday in Allegheny Commons Park on East Ohio Street in the Central North Side.

"Welcome to the Neighborwood," an event of interactive tree education, begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. The event coincides with the Children's Festival.

Environmental educator Tim Womick will conduct a "trail of trees" and Smokey the Bear is scheduled to appear. A scavenger hunt, tree rubbings and a professional tree climbing event are a few of the activities.

Free tree seedlings will be available while supplies last.
