"The Kill Point" will kill all bus and car traffic but have minimal impact on pedestrians next week along parts of Forbes Avenue in the heart of Downtown.
The one-way street will be closed to vehicles from Wood Street to Stanwix Street, including the part of Forbes that cuts through Market Square, from early morning until 9 p.m. daily beginning Monday until May 26 while crews are filming for an upcoming Spike TV series named "The Kill Point."
Twenty-one Port Authority bus routes will be detoured for the filming of "The Kill Point," which follows a band of American veterans of the Iraq War who stage a bank heist that goes bad.
Buses coming down Forbes will turn left onto Wood Street, right onto the Boulevard of Allies and right onto Stanwix Street.
The following routes will be affected: 501, 51E, 58C, 58P, 58V, 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 61F, 67A, 67C, 67E, 67F, 67H, 67J, 68F, 68J, 71A, 71C and 71D.
Public Works Director Guy Costa said the TV show's production company, Lionsgate Entertainment, "has worked it out with merchants to accommodate deliveries" on Forbes during the filming.
"Foot traffic will be allowed but, obviously, they'll have barricades and security where necessary," he said. "Much of the filming will be in and around the old G.C. Murphy Co. building but Market Square will be open and functioning normally."
"The Kill Point" will be an eight-hour television series. The independent television production company is receiving new state incentives and $100,000 in local development funds to help cover costs that include a crew of more than 100, some of them local.
