Five farmers markets will begin operation next week in the city of Pittsburgh. Another three will debut next month in Mount Washington, Bloomfield and the West End.
All of the markets will sell farm-fresh fruits, vegetable, meats, cheese and baked goods, and several locations also will offer flowers, small gifts and gardening items.
The schedule is as follows:
East Liberty (Penn Circle West): Mondays (starting next Monday), 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
South Side (18th and East Carson streets): Tuesdays (starting May 15), 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Carrick (Carrick Shopping Center, Brownsville Road and Parkfield Street): Wednesdays (starting May 16), 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Downtown (City-County Building): Fridays (starting May 18), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
North Side (East Park, East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue): Fridays (starting May 18), 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A market will open Tuesdays starting June 26 in Mount Washington at St. Mary of the Mount, 403 Grandview Ave.
Markets will operate on Thursdays beginning June 28 in Bloomfield at Immaculate Conception School parking lot, Cedarville Street and Friendship Avenue; and the West End at Noblestown Road and Obey Street.
All of the new markets will be open 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
