Henin will play unseeded Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the final today. Bondarenko, ranked 40th in the world, upset third-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

German Philipp Kohlschreiber reached the final of the BMW Open in Munich, Germany, by beating fourth-seeded Marcos Baghdatis, 6-2, 6-3. Kohlschreiber will face his doubles partner, third-seeded Mikhail Youzhny, in the final today. Youzhny beat second-seeded Tomas Berdych, 6-4, 6-3.
The California University women's team advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Division II tournament for the first time with a 5-0 victory against Bryant.

Travis Lulay threw two touchdown passes, rallying the Berlin Thunder (2-2) from a 21-point deficit to a 31-28 victory against the host Cologne Centurions (2-2) in NFL Europa.
The Pittsburgh Passion of the National Women's Football Association routed the Central PA Vipers, 52-0, at Harrisburg High School. Quarterback Lisa Horton passed for 101 yards and rushed for 55 yards for the Passion (3-0). She passed for one touchdown and rushed for another.

Goaltender Frederic Cassivi made 19 saves as the visiting Hershey Bears shut out the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 2-0, to take a 3-0 lead in this East Division final of the AHL Calder Cup playoffs. The Penguins went 0 for 10 on the power play.
Track and field
World and Olympic champion Jeremy Wariner of the United States cruised to victory in the men's 400-meter race at the IAAF Japan Grand Prix in Osaka. Wariner, 23, was quick out the blocks and finished in 44.02 seconds at the warm-up to the world championships n August. American Darold Williamson was second, finishing in 44.68, while Australia's Sean Wroe was third (45.58).
Cydonie Mothersill of the Cayman Islands edged American Lauryn Williams of Rochester in the women's 100 by 0.11 seconds, finishing in 11.33.
Pitt's Janessa Murphy won the Big East Conference long jump in Storrs, Conn., with a distance of 6.24 meters.
Josh Eddy of Duquesne won the 10,000 meters at the Atlantic 10 Conference championships in Charlotte, N.C., with a facility record time of 30:41.94
Taryn Gibson of St. Francis, Pa., won the 10,000 meters with a Northeast Conference record time of 36:19.44. Robert Morris' Stephanie Kuhn claimed the javelin title with a throw of 50.44 meters, also a conference record.
Baseball
Morgan Kielty's two-run homer highlighted Pitt's 9-2 victory against host Georgetown (18-26, 6-14) in the Big East Conference. Pitt (21-21, 12-7) lost the second game, 1-0. Kielty has 25 RBIs this season.
Host Geneva swept Point Park, 3-2 and 9-1, to win its first American Mideast Conference North Division title. Geneva qualifies for the NAIA Region 9 tournament, which begins Tuesday.
Washington & Jefferson defeated visiting Thomas More, 3-2 and 6-2, to win its third consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference championship.
Volleyball
UC Irvine's Anteaters (29-5) blended their power game with great defense to beat IPFW (23-8), 3-1, in Columbus, Ohio, and win their first volleyball national championship. The second-seeded Anteaters won by scores of 30-20, 24-30, 30-23 and 30-28, extending their school record for wins in a season.
Boxing
National Golden Gloves officials awarded $1,500 boxing sportsmanship grants to Anthony Tettis of Ridgway, a Penn College student, and Jesse Lubash of Munhall, a Duquesne student. Each of these Pennsylvania champs lost this past week in the quarterfinals at the national championships in Chattanooga, Tenn.
