Friday, May 04, 2007

A motorcyclist was killed yesterday in a collision with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Indiana County.

Jacob A. Magalich, 26, of Avonmore, Westmoreland County, had been riding his Harley Davidson west on Route 22 in West Wheatfield at 3:28 p.m. when the Jeep turned into his path, state police said.

The Jeep, driven by Randall Kriebel, 42, of New Alexandria, was turning onto Route 22 from Route 259 to travel east on Route 22, police said.

Mr. Magalich was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:53 p.m.

A motorcycle helmet was found near the scene, but investigators had not determined whether Mr. Magalich had been wearing it at the time of the crash.

Mr. Kriebel was not injured.

No charges have been filed.
