The future of one of three former officials of Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's office remained in doubt today, as two others settled into new positions with the city.
Interim spokeswoman Joanna Doven said early today that former Senior Secretary Marlene Cassidy had not accepted a position at the Pittsburgh Parking Authority and would apparently not be employed further with the city or its agencies.
Ms. Cassidy, though, was at the Parking Authority's office this afternoon, that agency's Executive Director, Dave Onorato, confirmed.
"She was in. It was not a [job] interview," Mr. Onorato said. He would not elaborate. "She didn't turn an offer down, because an offer wasn't made."
He said he anticipated that there would soon be a job opening at the authority but would not describe the nature of the post.
Ms. Cassidy could not be reached for comment. A long-time assistant to the late Mayor Bob O'Connor, she became a controversial figure because of her association with her housemate, former city Operations Director Dennis Regan, who was accused of meddling in police internal affairs.
Early in Mr. O'Connor's administration, two of Ms. Cassidy's children were hired to work at the Pittsburgh Housing Authority and Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority, respectively.
Former mayoral spokesman Dick Skrinjar, also removed from his role Friday, is now assistant director of city parks and senior interests, at a salary of $66,740. He started today.
No information was available on the new position or salary of the third former mayor's office employee, Anna Dobkin, a former government relations manager who will now work in the Planning Department.
