Did you know that one of the hottest cars in Porsche's lineup is a sport utility vehicle?

I had the pleasure of riding along with a professional driver in the all-new Turbo model ($93,700), powered by a 500-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8, and to say it was a spine-tingling experience would be an understatement. We went flying around the track at 160 mph, yet it felt as if we were only driving 60. By the way, it hits 60 in less than 5 seconds!
That's a testament to the stability of the car, to the high level of engineering and strength built into it and just how seriously Porsche takes its reputation as a company that makes products for people who like to drive.
The Cayenne also comes in a base model that starts at $43,800, and is powered by a 290-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6, and a Cayenne S that starts at $57,900 and comes with a 385-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8.
There's lots of new technology on the Cayenne. There's an optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control feature with active anti-roll bars. It smooths things out so much that you can't feel road imperfections and the car corners even flatter than usual.
You'll also appreciate a rollover sensor that will engage the belt latch tensioners and side curtain air bags if you experience an emergency. Another key feature is a standard, push-button Sports Mode, which results in instant, solid acceleration when you want it.

Porsche has been busy with its other models, too. In the past year, the company has introduced the 2007 911 Turbo, powered by a 480 horsepower, twin turbo 3.6 liter engine. Equipped with the optional five-speed Tiptronic S automatic, it can reach 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.
When you have that power, weight balance and distribution are crucial, which is why the 911 Turbo comes with an all-wheel drive system.
Porsche says styling changes on the car are more evolutionary than revolutionary, with a redesigned wing spoiler to highlight a wider profile. All this comes at a cost -- $122,900.
The other big news from Porsche comes from the 2007 911 GT3, a car that Porsche says is its most powerful non-turbo 911 in history, with a 415-horsepower, naturally aspirated Boxer engine. It will reach 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and its top speed is 193 miles per hour.
For the first time, Porsche says, the 911 GT3 will have an active suspension with two modes, one for driving on normal road surfaces and one for the race track. The GT3 costs $106,000.
