Keith Olbermann will return to sports for the first time in six years to join Cris Collinsworth as co-host of the pregame show for NBC's Sunday night NFL telecasts.
Olbermann, who currently hosts a prime-time newscast and opinion show called "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC, will join with host Bob Costas and analysts Jerome Bettis, Tiki Barber and Peter King on NBC's "Football Night in America."
An anchor for ESPN's "SportsCenter" from 1992-97, Olbermann previously appeared on network television in 2001 as host of postseason baseball coverage for FOX.
His job on the NBC show will be to narrate highlights and discuss NFL news and issues.
Vikings
Cortez Hankton signed with Minnesota, leaving Jacksonville after four seasons and joining a team needing to bolster its receivers. Hankton had 34 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns with Jacksonville. He signed as a rookie free agent out of Texas Southern and has contributed mostly on special teams. The Vikings' receiving game was mediocre last season, with former first-round draft pick Troy Williamson struggling with drops. Minnesota signed Tennessee's Bobby Wade in March and most likely will try to strengthen its receiving at the April 28-29 draft.
Seahawks
Spurned by its primary offseason target for bolstering the offensive line, Seattle is instead bringing back veteran guard Chris Gray. Gray, who turns 37 in June, will be starting his 15th season -- his 10th with the Seahawks. His team record of 121 consecutive starts ended Dec. 31 in the regular-season finale because of a bruised right quadriceps, but he returned to start both Seattle's playoff games in January. He will get a two-year contract worth $2.1 in base salary plus bonuses.
Broncos
Colorado's Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from former Denver linebacker John Mobley, who was sentenced to seven days in jail for a drunken driving conviction. Mobley, who was released by the Broncos in late July 2004 because of a lingering neck injury, was arrested Dec. 28, 2002, in Parker just south of Denver after failing a roadside sobriety test. Police said he was driving 69 mph in a 40 mph zone.
