Winfield S. Smathers IV, a 1990 graduate of Dickinson College and a member of the 1989 and 1990 men's golf teams, was honored recently by the Dickinson College Sports Hall of Fame committee. He lives in Pine.

Tracey Cima, a teacher at Ingomar Middle School in North Allegheny School District, will be featured in "2006/2007 National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teachers."

Donald Green has joined the board of directors at Glade Run Foundation. Dr. Green is the executive director of Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania.

Trooper Frank Cichra, of Troop D in Butler, has been certified by the International Association of Chiefs of Police as a drug recognition expert.

Glade Run Lutheran Services' therapeutic horticulture program was selected from more than 650 kids' gardening programs nationwide to receive a Youth Garden Grant from the National Gardening Association.

The program will receive books donated by the association and a $250 gift card from Home Depot.

Cranberry Township Rotary Noon Club has honored these Service Above Self awards:

The Business Leader award went to Donald Graham, of Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter and Graham; Mike Diehl, of Cranberry Parks and Recreation Department, received the Public Servant award; Non-Rotarian award went to Chuck Caputy, Cranberry supervisor; Business award, Domenico's Ristorante; Community service award, Linda Joa, a Cranberry Rotarian; Educator award, Michael Manipole, a Rowan Elementary School physical education teacher; and the Student award, senior Mike Emling, of Seneca Valley.

In addition, Robert Jodan received the Paul Harris Fellow, Linda Andreassi was named Cranberry Rotarian of the Year and William Powis received the Richard G. Bach Lifetime Achievement Award Winner.

Daniel McIntosh, an associate professor of political science at Slippery Rock University, has been named the 2006 Volunteer of the Year by the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Mr. McIntosh logged more than 300 hours of service, giving lectures and helping to organize ACLU events.

He was honored at the organization's annual meeting in the David Lawrence Auditorium of the University of Pittsburgh Law School.

Wendy Lydon, of Wexford, has accepted the position of director of business development and marketing for Glade Run Lutheran Services. She was previously an account manager for U.S. Foodservice.
