SPECIAL NOTES
Litter pickup -- PennDOT is looking for more volunteers to participate in this year's Great Pennsylvania Cleanup on April 21, including its Adopt-a-Highway program that now has 7,100 groups and organizations. Call PennDOT's local maintenance office or go to www.greatpacleanup.org.
Route 28 rock slides -- PennDOT will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. May 10 at Highlands High School in Natrona Heights to discuss remedies to persistent slides that impact the southbound lanes in Harmar.
PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE
Allegheny River bridges -- The turnpike has delayed soliciting bids for one month for the $150 million twin bridges that will replace the existing 56-year-old bridge near the Allegheny Valley-Route 28 interchange.
INTERSTATES
I-79, Greene County -- Single lane in each direction over a short stretch where PennDOT is repairing damage done by long-wall mining under the highway.
I-376, Parkway East -- After a one-week weather delay, PennDOT has begun the $38 million, 4.4-mile rehabilitation between Oakland and Edgewood-Swissvale interchange. Work being done after 8 p.m. weekdays and during weekends to minimize traffic impacts. Outbound delays through 6 a.m. tomorrow.
I-279, Parkway West -- Shoulders closed but no lane restrictions where PennDOT is widening the road west of I-79 and building "missing links" to handle additional traffic movements at the interchange.
STATE HIGHWAYS
Route 22, Indiana County -- Construction on Penn View Mountain. Lane restrictions, changing traffic patterns.
Route 22, Westmoreland County -- Cozy Inn Bridge to Route 66, Delmont, one lane each way for reconstruction. Other traffic restrictions during widening, reconstruction of four miles east of Route 981, New Alexandria.
Route 22, Washington County -- Single lane in both directions for patching, resurfacing on three miles between West Virginia line and Route 18, Hanover.
Route 28 -- Lane shifts in effect northbound for start of $35.8 million, 7-mile road and bridge repair project through part of O'Hara, Harmar, Springdale, Frazer and East Deer.
OTHER ROADS
10th Street Bypass, Downtown -- Closed between Fort Duquesne Bridge and David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Contractor preparing to bore twin tunnels under the Allegheny River, build cut-and-cover tunnel to connect subway to Gateway Center T Station.
MAJOR BRIDGES
31st Street Bridge, Pittsburgh -- Closed for rehabilitation. Use 40th Street Bridge or 16th Street Bridge. To be completed this fall.
Homestead Grays Bridge -- Traffic shifted to the outside lanes, one lane in each direction. The $35 million rehabilitation to be finished in mid-June.
Hot Metal Bridge -- Rush hour delays on Second Avenue while former steel mill bridge over the Mon River is being converted into a bike-pedestrian crossing.
PORT AUTHORITY
Palm Garden Bridge -- Span crossing Route 51 that's part of South Busway is closed for repairs. Bus and light-rail detours in effect, shuttles supplementing service.
North Shore Connector -- Construction under way for 1.2-mile extension. Night and weekend restrictions on Stanwix and intersecting streets Downtown. An eastbound lane of Reedsdale Street and part of General Robinson Street near Mazeroski Way are closed on the North Shore.
