The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful
Terry McMillan and Plummer still sniping; McCartney and Mills make nice
Thursday, March 22, 2007

"Step right up hurry, hurry, before the show begins, my friends

"Stand in line, get your ticket, I hope you will attend,

"It'll only cost you fifty cents to see

"What life has done to those like you and me."

Yes, sometimes life can sure do you wrong, just like Blue Magic sang about in "Sideshow."

But when it does, you know what you have to do. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.

That's a song lyric, too, but it's also good advice.

Remember, it's Friday. And if you just got paid, that makes it even better.

On that note, we're gonna run to the bank. You check out this installment of the GBB.

Terry McMillan and her ex-hubby Jonathan Plummer just can't seem to stay away from each other -- in court that is.

"The How Stella Got Her Groove Back" author is suing Jonathan, the inspiration for that book, for $40 million, reports AP.

The film version starred Taye Diggs and Angela Bassett.

The lawsuit claims Mr. Plummer, a native of Jamaica, only married Ms. McMillan to gain U.S. citizenship and that he's been smearing his ex-wife's good name.

You know these two went through a very ugly, highly-publicized divorce in 2005 after Jonathan realized he was gay.

They've been sniping back and forth at each other ever since.

We're just totally let down by the news that our girl, Vivica A. Fox, was busted on DUI charges in LA Tuesday night.

Dang, Viv!

The 42-year-old star of "Kill Bill Vol. 2" and "Soul Food" was doing 80 mph on the LA freeway in a 65 mph zone.

She failed a field sobriety test, so the police had to arrest her. Plus, according to police, she looked and acted like she'd had one too many.

Her reps aren't talking, so we don't know whether she's taking the next mandatory step for celebs who are caught doing something illegal or stupid -- rehab.

Speaking of rehab, that's where "Desperate Housewives" hunk Jesse Metcalfe has landed after reports he acted a fool last weekend during a nasty binge at the Mondrian Hotel in LA, as reported by Page Six.

Jesse is in an undisclosed location to deal with alcohol issues, according to a statement his reps issued.

Maybe music producer Dallas Austin should try rehab, too.

He's now apologizing for saying some very nasty, crude things about Christina Aguilera and Joss Stone, two ladies he's worked with in the past.

We won't tell you what he said verbatim 'cause our momma would come back with her switch if we used that kind of language.

But he indicated the two songstresses didn't pay for their beats with money.

Now, he's saying, his comments "were purely an act of retaliation not of malice or cruel intent ..."

Well, you could have fooled us.

Quite frankly, we thought Dallas would be too busy thanking God he's no longer sitting in a Dubai prison on drug charges to say such awful things.

Now here's something nice to report about Heather Mills and Paul McCartney.

Page Six reports that Paul sent his soon-to-be-ex-wife flowers after her debut on "Dancing with the Stars."

The tab speculates that the former Beatle's gesture could be because he's settled with Ms. Mills for $55 million and some property, which would be a lot less than she could have ended up with.

Don't know if he and Jessica Simpson will still be a two-some then, but it was just announced that John Mayer is scheduled to headline the VH1 Save the Music Foundation's 10th anniversary celebration Sept. 20 at Lincoln Center.

The foundation raises money to restore music programs in public schools.

The foundation will be honoring its founder, John Sykes, and NAMM, the International Music Products Association.

Our man Tim Gunn of "Project Runway" fame will be there to emcee a live auction.

Make it work, Tim!

We're starting a new little feature in the GBB based on the old six degrees of Kevin Bacon game.

Of course, in our version we're going to see who can link a celebrity to Pittsburgh in the fewest moves.

First up is Gene Wilder, who starred in "The Woman in Red" with Charles Grodin, who was born in Pittsburgh. Source: IMDB.com.

See, simple.

Now, it's your turn 'cause you know we got enough to do just trying to find out who's the father of Anna Nicole's baby.

Anyway, e-mail your celeb and his or her connection to the 'Burgh and supporting documentation. If we can confirm, we may run it.
