Two graduates of PG West area high schools have been chosen as first-team selections on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference basketball all-star teams.
Daren Tielsch, a Montour High School graduate and a senior at Edinboro University, was named to the men's first team for the second year in a row.
A 6-foot-8 forward, he concluded a brilliant three-year career by leading the Fighting Scots both in scoring (16.5 points per game) and rebounding (9.4 rebounds per game). He finished fifth in the PSAC in scoring and second in rebounding, after leading the conference in rebounding a year ago.
Also, Ambridge Area graduate Kelly Calderone, also a senior at Edinboro, was named to the women's first team for the second time after earning second-team honors as a sophomore in 2005.
She enjoyed an outstanding three-year career aftyer transferring from the University of Buffalo, finishing fourth in career scoring with 1,460 career points.
In 28 games, this 5-7 guard led Edinboro in scoring at 18.3 points per game, a figure which ranks fourth in the PSAC.
The PAC men cometh
Hopewell High School graduate Greg Rosatelli and Riverside grad Craig Hallman were voted to the Presidents' Athletic Conference men's basketball all-star team.
Rosatelli, a 5-10 senior guard at Westminster College, was voted to the first team. Hallman, a 6-6 senior center at Grove City College, was an honorable mention selection.
