Dow Jones teams up with IAC to start personal finance Web site
Tuesday, March 13, 2007

NEW YORK -- Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, is teaming up with Barry Diller's IAC/InteractiveCorp to start a personal finance Web business, the companies have announced.

The companies said in a statement that the new site would draw material from The Wall Street Journal as well as MarketWatch.com, a financial news site also owned by Dow Jones, and other Dow Jones properties.

IAC would contribute technology and marketing abilities from its web properties, including the search site Ask.com and LendingTree.com, an online lending information company.

The companies did not disclose financial terms or what the name of the new site will be. They did say Dow Jones' earnings would be reduced by about 3 cents per share in 2007 because of its investment in the venture.

Dave Kansas, a longtime reporter and editor at the Journal, will head the new venture. Kansas had also previously served as editor of the financial news Web site TheStreet.com.
