BRADENTON, Fla. - Outfielder Andrew McCutchen, the Pirates' top prospect, left the team's workout because of gastritis today at Pirate City.
General manager Dave Littlefield described the ailment as "nothing serious" and suggested McCutchen would return soon.
Outfielder Xavier Nady, who left the hospital Thursday after three days there to treat a viral infection in his intestines, did not report to the Pirates' camp. The team had loosely projected that he might report and participate in independent exercises, but Nady and management agreed it would be best to spend the day resting, then resume tomorrow.
