New Business/New Office

New tenants will occupy the Pittsburgh Office & Research Park, which has four buildings on a 36-acre campus in McCandless:

Pressley Ridge opens its new administrative headquarters, occupying the full fourth floor, 18,000 square feet, of One Corporate Center. Pressley Ridge provides services in six states and the District of Columbia to troubled children and families.

April brings the opening of Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que, replacing the Lone Star Restaurant and Saloon. Famous Dave's operates 145 restaurants in 35 states. The menu features barbecued and smoked pork, beef, chicken and ribs, salads, side dishes, desserts and the option of a children's menu.

LabCorp., which runs clinical labs with annual revenues of $3.3 billion in 2005, will open in early May in One Corporate Center. It offers a broad range of genomic/esoteric tests and tests more than 370,000 specimens daily for more than 220,000 clients nationwide.

Also in May, Genesis Medical Associates Inc. will open on the seventh floor of Three Corporate Center. Drs. Robert H. Potter Jr., Warren S. Smith, Kurt M. Heil and Yvonne H. Chia are board certified family practice physicians. They will see patients daily and Saturday mornings and will have evening office hours Monday through Thursday.

Gary Roberson and Michele Goetz of Grant Street Associates are the leasing agents representing the Landlord, Zell Two Inc.

Contracts

Desbrow was chosen by Co-exprise Inc. to provide comprehensive strategic communication counsel and implementation of a multifaceted marketing communications and public relations plan.

Burns & Scalo Roofing has a roofing contract award for BRH Medical. The project includes removal of the old roof and the installation of an 11,400-squaer-foot adhered system.

Dick Corp. will provide Construction Management, Inspection and Testing Services for the Allegheny County New Medical Examiner's Office, Morgue and Forensic Laboratories project. The project involves renovation of a two-story building. The construction costs are about $20 million. Construction is planned to begin in late spring 2007 and be completed in the fall of 2008. Dick Corp.'s role includes construction management, inspection and testing during construction.

Centria seleccts Pipitone Group as its agency of record to develop a comprehensive marketing campaign, including planning, design/advertising, marketing technologies and public relations.

Aquatech International Corp. received a contract from Weyerhaeuser in Campti, La. The plant is designed to treat feed water to produce demineralized water.

Grants/loans

Tickets for Kids Foundation was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Negley Flinn Charitable Foundation. The grant supports Tickets for Kids' Living and Learning in Our Neighborhood Program, which reaches deserving children and provides them the opportunity to be included in a variety of arts & cultural and educational events in their communities.

YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh received a $10,000 grant from Duquesne Light Co. as part of the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh will be offering scholarships for pre-kindergarten programs to children throughout the area. The scholarship is awarded to any child whose family meets the economic requirements of the YMCA Building Bridges Financial Assistance Program.

The Center for Nonlinear Analysis at Carnegie Mellon University has received a five-year, $2.1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to renew its research to identify and address cutting-edge mathematical questions in diverse fields.

Through a $10,000 grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Beaver County Big Brothers Big Sisters program will launch Highmark Mentors in Motion, a program to improve nutrition, physical activity and self-esteem through the powerful examples of mentors. The Highmark Mentors in Motion program will incorporate a wide range of strategies and changes -- training and education sessions to reinforce healthy activities and nutrition, including classes in preparing nutritious foods and snacks, simple fitness activities and community activities.
