Penn State and a former member of the women's basketball team have settled a lawsuit the player filed charging that she was forced off the team by coach Rene Portland.
The National Center for Lesbian Rights announced that the parties have reached an amicable settlement of the suit filed by former women's basketball player Jennifer Harris against Penn State University, Penn State's athletic director, Timothy Curley and Portland.
The terms of the settlement were not released.
Harris had filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court and complaints with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.
She played for the Lady Lions as a freshman in the 2004-05 season before she alleges she was asked to leave the program. She charged in her lawsuit that Portland forced her to leave because she mistakenly believed that Harris was gay.
Penn State, Curley and Coach Portland have denied Harris' allegations.
