More suggested name changes for Steelers, carping about Tomlin's assistants, a request from a serviceman in Kuwait, a great video homage to the Jaw and a welcome to Mike Tomlin, plus a weekend YouTube treat for Steelers fans feeling wistful about last year ...

MORE STEELER NAME CHANGES:

"Brett Keisel to "Grizzly Adams" Keisel" -- Craig Johnston, South Side of Pittsburgh

"Bryant McFadePattern, an homage to the deep cover skills of our DB's.
Cedrick "The Complainer" Wilson, just because he always seems so full of joy.
Anthony "Don't EVER do that Deion high step crap again" Smith, -- nuff said." -- Steve Carlisle, San Antonio, TX, formerly of Hickory, PA

"I know you can't really print this, but Larry Footeupyer[rear] would be a good one! :-) I know he's now an ex-Steeler, but Duce should have just dropped the y to become Duce Stale.
Alan Faneca could become Alan Pancaka (as in pancake blocks) and judging by his hitting in his rookie year, Anthony Smith could become Anthony Smith & Wesson." -- Ronald Rankl

"How about, Antwaan "We want you back" Randle El, becasue we don't have anyone who catch a punt, plus your picture is still on the header for steelersfan.net. So is Jerome's, but I guess Jerome "One more year" Bettis is out of the question." -- Jeff Whalen, Castle Shannon, PA

"Mighty Casey Hampton, Heinz Ward (as he already owns our house) Joey PORTERhouse, Deshea Townsend to "Olé" Townsend (for his ability to miss wide open tackles -- sorry Deshea, the Ravens game is on my mind) Alan "Knock you on your" FannieKa ..." -- Timothy Lamont

"Troy can change his name to whatever he likes and it's alright with us girls!!" -- Dotty Dodson, Pittsburgh

HELLO, GOODBYE

A tremendous video montage welcoming Mike Tomlin and warm farewell to Bill Cowher. Set to the Beatles:

TOMLIN GOOD, ASSISTANTS BAD?

"I was very happy with the hiring of Mike Tomlin. The Rooneys were very thorough in there search. They were careful about not choosing a head coach, just because they were familiar with him. They went outside the list of candidates who had worked with the Steelers.

Now we get to the hiring of assistant coaches. Mike Tomlin has hired assistants that he has worked with in the past. And it seems that track record has no bearing on these hires. Ken Anderson did a poor job of coaching QB's in Cincy and Jax. Kirby Wilson coached the pathetic Arizona RB's the last two years.

Bob Ligashesky The only coach that doesn't have any previous relationship with Tomlin (that we know of) has a history of failure as a special teams coach at Pitt and the Rams.

I hope these guys are more qualified than there records show. But it still seems that Mr. Tomlin was not as thorough in his search for assistants, as the Rooneys were in there search for a Head coach." -- Prashant Saini, Oviedo, FL

"Tomlin's ability as a head coach is yet to be determined, but the coaches he is putting on the offensive side of the ball are scary. He must love challenges because he is putting the offense into the hands of guys who truly have not proven they know how to win (as coaches) in the NFL - or at any level. Hopefully "Big T" knows more than most, but my guess is Bruce and his boys will give a lot of Steelers fans heartburn in 07'." -- C. Butcher - Dayton, Ohio

"Great pick for a running backs coach, some tool from the Cardinals. I'll bet it was real hard to convince him to leave that bastion of running back heaven out there; they've done SO well in the running game. Just another nail in the Steelers coffin." -- David C. Doe, Portland, ME

On the Blogo-hypocycloid, POJO DOJO and the Pittsburgh Steelers Fanatic weigh in at length on Tomlin's assistants.

CAN ANYONE HELP THIS GUY?

"I am a HUGE Steeler's fan currently serving in Kuwait. I BLEED black and gold and am searching for something. I'm hoping that one of your loyal readers out there recorded last year's super bowl (on VCR would be perfect). If there is ANYBODY out there in your readership that has, I'd pay to get a copy! There are MANY Steeler's fans serving with me who would love to relive last year's glory and are looking forward to next year. Thank you and GO STEELERS!!!" -- Lt. Darrell E. Gary, USAF darrell.gary@asab.centaf.af.mil

STEELER CHEERLEADERS?

"Simple question -- Why don't the Steelers have cheerleaders. I'm a die hard Steelers fan, and always wondered why we don't have a line of cuties wearing the Black-N-Gold?" -- Danny Gallegos

BNG: We've always been traditionalists, and prefer that the Steelers don't have a squad of pom-poms & cheesecake on the sidelines. However, we've always been of the opinion that if the Steelers were to get cheerleaders, they should wear welder's masks and beaters like Jennifer Beals in "Flashdance." Very tasteful.

IN 18 YEARS, SHE MIGHT BE A STEELERS CHEERLEADER.

Cute & Funny:

STILLER FAN FOR DA BEARS

"I am a Steeler fan in Chicago who will be rooting for the Bears this weekend in the Super Bowl. Looking forward to trying to make the Steelers games in AZ & St. Louis next year. To any transplanted Steeler fans in either city, if you are disgusted enough by the Steelers choice of coaches that you are not a fan anymore I will gladly buy any tickets you have. Being at Heinz field in '05 was the sports highlight of my life. Hopefully I will get back a few more times!" -- Todd Smith, South Elgin, IL

And Finally Steeler fans, a little reminder of what you were doing last year on Super Bowl Sunday:
