The United States won a $41 million judgment against well-known video poker kingpin John "Duffy" Conley yesterday in federal court.
The government will likely never recover anywhere near that amount, which includes unpaid taxes from Mr. Conley's illegal earnings from 1985 through 1995.
Mr. Conley, who was sentenced in May to serve four more years in prison after violating his supervised release, is being housed at the Elkton Federal Correctional Institution in Elkton, Ohio.
He originally served nine years in prison for his federal conviction. Two years later, in February, Mr. Conley was arrested again -- this time for running a video poker and sports-betting organization.
