The No. 24 Marquette Golden eagles made their last 15 free throws in a row to hand No. 6 Pitt a 77-74 overtime loss on their home court this evening in Oakland.

Marquette guard Dominic James cashed in two free throws with .9 seconds remaining to deflate the Panthers' hopes of a comeback victory in front of a lively crowd at the Petersen Events Center.

Pitt guard Ronald Ramon made two free throws with less than 4 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime, 64-64.

The Panthers patiently worked to chip away at a 9-point Marquette lead with four minutes remaining.

Keith Benjamin made a key offensive rebound to get the ball to Ramon, who was fouled at the top of the key while attempting a perimeter pass.

Marquette led most of the game, taking the lead seven minutes into the first half and not relinquishing it until Ramon hit his free throws to send the contest into overtime.

The loss was the first for Pitt in the Big East. The Panthers are now 17-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Golden Eagles are 17-7 and 4-2 in the Big East.
